卡特家族
“卡特家族”（The Carter Family），也称作“卡特一家”，是一个美国乡村音乐组合，在1927年到1956年录制了许多音乐。他们的音乐影响了蓝草音乐、乡村音乐、南方福音、流行音乐和摇滚乐，以及1960年代的美国民歌复兴运动。他们是第一个成为乡村音乐明星的声乐组合。他们著名的歌曲有《Wabash Cannonball》、《但愿生死轮回永不停止》（Will the Circle Be Unbroken）、《森林野花》（Wildwood Flower）、《让生活充满阳光》（Keep On the Sunny Side），这些歌曲树立了乡村音乐的标准[1]。
乐队历史
“卡特家族”由阿尔文·普莱森特·卡特（Alvin Pleasant Carter，“A.P.”，1891年～1960年）、他的妻子萨拉·多尔蒂·卡特（Sara Dougherty Carter，1898年～1979年）和他妻子的妹妹梅比尔·爱丁顿·卡特（Maybelle Addington Carter，1909年～1978年）组成。他们出生并生活在弗吉尼亚州，
在1927年8月1日[2]，来自弗吉尼亚州玛西丝泉（Maces Spring）的“卡特家族”参加了维克多唱片公司选拔歌手的活动，由于他们的演唱十分出色，制作人拉尔夫·皮尔（Ralph Peer）给他们录制了6首歌曲，其中就包括成名曲《单身姑娘和已婚姑娘》（Single Girl,Married Girl）。每首歌他们得到了50美元。当年11月，维克多唱片公司出版了他们的第一张唱片（双面78转），收录了《可怜的孤儿》（Poor Orphan Child）和《流浪的男孩》（Wandering Boy）。此后又出版了《海上风暴》（The Storms Are on the Ocean）和《单身姑娘和已婚姑娘》（Single Girl, Married Girl），这张唱片让他们一举成名。
1928年5月，“卡特家族”成员来到新泽西的肯顿录制了一批民歌，包括：

到1930年，“卡特家族”已经在美国售出了30万张唱片。由于卡特家族演唱的歌曲多来自民间，已过版权保护期，所以他们无法获得版税，从而唱片公司也不用支付版权使用费用，他们仅从发售的唱片和改编的歌谱中获得很少的报酬。因此A.P.决定去西南佛吉尼亚地区去寻找新歌。1930年代初，A.P.结识了来自田纳西州金斯波特的黑人吉他手Lesley “Esley” Riddle，Esley陪着一起收集歌曲。1931年6月，“卡特家的成员”与吉米·罗杰斯在肯塔基州的路易斯维尔一起录音。1933年，梅比尔在芝加哥的世界博览会遇到了“The Cook Family Singers”的成员，并且喜欢上了他们的声音，于是她邀请“The Cook Family Singers”加入了寻找民歌之旅。
从1938年冬天到1930年，“卡特家族”来到德克萨斯州，在XERA电台做一个一天两次的节目。在1939年到1940年，June Carter加入了“卡特家族”，他们那时在圣安东尼奥，他们的节目在多加边境电台之间翻录和传播。
在1942年秋天，“卡特家族”的节目转移到夏洛特的WBT电台，并签订了一年的合同，他们的节目出现在每日的日出时分（5:15～6:15 a.m）。
1936年，A.P.和萨拉离婚。萨拉嫁给了A.P.的表兄弟，搬到了加利福尼亚。“卡特家族”组合因此解散了。
“卡特家族”解散后，梅比尔继续与自己的女儿们（Anita Carter，June Carter Cash和Helen Carter）作为组合“梅比尔妈妈和卡特姐妹”一起演出，直到1970年代。期间，切特·阿特金斯（Chet Atkins）作为电吉他手于1949年加入，并于1950年退出[3]，此人以后成为美国数一数二的乡村吉他手。A.P.、萨拉和他们的孩子Joe和Janette Carter在1950年代录制了一些素材。梅比尔和萨拉也共同录制过一些专辑，并在民歌运动高涨的1960年代举办过巡演[4]。
在1960年代的民歌复兴运动中，卡特家族收集创作的许多歌曲都被广为传唱，例如民歌女王琼·贝兹在她早期的专辑里演唱过《森林野花》（Wildwood Flower）、“Little Moses”、“Engine 143”、“Little Darling, Pal of Mine”和“Gospel Ship”。鲍伯·迪伦在年轻的时候写在“Wayworn Traveller”的旋律基础上填词，写出了“Paths Of Victory”[5]，在这首歌的基础上，他创作出著名的《时代变了》（The Times They Are a-Changin）[6]。
1970年，“卡特家族”入选乡村音乐名人堂，成为第一个入选的乐队[7]
1987年，重新团聚的June Carter Cash、Helen和Anita Carter，以及June的女儿Carlene Carter和又作为“卡特家族”与约翰尼·卡什（Johnny Cash）出现在音乐电视节目Austin City Limits里[8]。
